The fortune of Kaemon Takashima

Kaemon Takashima was the most famous Japanese prognosticator. When I saw his life code, I know that he wasn’t a swindler. Overpowered Water is a signature of sorcerers. I am the only one who knows it (until I posted online), he couldn’t have faked it for me.

Takashima was a business person, he was jailed in 1859 for illegal currency exchanging. Currency exchanging was illegal because Japan was a closed country and was resentful towards western countries and international trade. Anyway, he found a book of I Ching in his cell, read it and practice it every day. He did divination for his cell mates and the guards. In 1862, his cell mate wanted to break the prison, he refused and did a divination. The prison break was a failure, and the hopeless prisoners started to slaughter guards when they realized they were surrendered. Takashima climbed up to the patio with a rope, thanks to the instruction from divination sign. After that, he generated absolute trust to I Ching.

Takashima did a lot of divinations to prison officials and earned respect. He was released early in 1865. He went to Yokohama after release and became a construction material dealer, in the meantime, he also did divination for people. He became very famous in Yokohama, there’s even a place called Takashimachō that named after him. At the age 45, he quit from business and focus on divination. With divination skills, Takashima acquainted with lots of important people, for example: his daughter married the son of Itō Hirobumi who was the prime minister of Japan. Because Takashima’s relation with Ito, lots of his perditions is about politics and recorded in history. For example: he publish the result of Shimonoseki Campaign on newspaper before it was done; and he predicted the assassination of Ito Hirobumi. He even got the assassin’s name.

In the fall of 1941, Takashima predicted his death. He wrote his own tablet, and died at the predicted time. Takashima never doubted to I Ching, although sometimes the result of divination doesn’t fit the actual situation. He believed: people’s understanding is limited, and I Ching is always right. Takashima saw divination as communication between human and god. He had complete trust to I Ching, and never attempted to find reasons, which is the best attitude for divination. Because in the end, divination is not explainable. There's no reason behind it. If you are looking for reasons while doing it, you will disturb your mind. Like thinking the chance of missing when you are taking a basketball shot, you will have more chance to miss the shot. As I said, divination requires a firm and clear mind and superstition is the best thing for that.

Takashima had lot of Water that gave him a flexible mind. The reason that divination requires a flex and divergent mind is: signs are very abstract. Each sign represents lots of things, ABCDE. Finding out “What does it represents” under a specific situation could be hard for stiff-mind people, because it is ever-changing. He had too much Water so he was too strong and had Water-Wood as foe. His early fortunes were Wood, so his early life wasn’t good: he started with lots of debt, and ended up in prison in the 2(4) fortune which was Wood on Wood as foe. The actual year was 6(8). (4) and (8) merged to Wood as foe, and (8) is tomb of Wood. Wood is his self code and represents himself, lost in tomb implies imprisonment. The prison break was in 1862, which was a 9(11) year. After prison, he became successful, because his fortune turned Fire-Earth. He died in a 1(3) year, the date was 2(12), again proved that he had Wood as foe. In another word, although Takashima didn’t do life code, his life fits his code very much.
